UPHILL World Record with my Solar Bike

For several years I have always been really passionate about bikes, technology and renewable energy: this has led me to design/build/use Solar Bikes.

Since my first projects in 2016 I have always tried to improve my designs , thanks to roughly 10000km ridden every year.

I also wanted to demonstrate that with a well designed/built Solar Bike we can accomplish unbelievable things!

For this reason I decided to establish a new world record:

”Maximum UPHILL altitude gain, reached in the same day with a SOLAR bike without ANY assistance.”

This unique type of record (never attempted before…) is based on following simple rules:

1) No possibility to REPLACE the existing battery (as other people have been forced to do…)

2) No possibility to recharge the battery from a wall plug.

3) Only possibility is to charge the battery:

         – with solar panels

         – with regenerative braking in the descent

4) this achievement to be accomplished on the same day

After having established those rules I decided to apply for a World record with the Guinness World Record (GWR) organisation.

Unfortunately they refused my application, reason being that I was not considered as a ‘private organization’.

Even after having tried to explain that I am not a Company but only a single person with passion for technology/bikes/renewable energy, my application was finally refused.

Being convinced on the importance of this achievement I have organized this challenge, independently from GWR.

My support team was based on 2 people (one of them being a professional drone pilot) who followed me throughout the full duration of the activity.

So on July the 9th I have been able to establish a NEW WORLD RECORD:

”8010m. of altitude gain in the same day without any external assistance”

I have climbed several times the same mountain pass in the Dolomites in Friuli (in the north of Italy).

This is the video that describes this achievement:

If you want you can have access to the GPS recording which shows exactly the full itinerary and the altitude gains: https://www.komoot.com/tour/169819904

World record: uphill 8000m in one day!
